Shine Brighter November 28

On November 28, Threshold Housing Society will again participate in Giving Tuesday Canada – this time with an amazing matching donation of up to $10,000!

Giving Tuesday is an important opportunity both for Threshold to show our gratitude for all the support we receive, and to deepen our relationships with community as we head into the full blast of the holiday season.

While there is so much to be thankful for, there is also much work to do. We are seeing not only more youth experiencing housing instability and homelessness, but youth with more compounding issues such as mental illness, substance use disorder, and deeply fractured support networks.

While we have been sharing our gratitude in the leadup to Giving Tuesday we’d also like to again show our thanks to those who choose to “Shine Brighter” on November 28.

Ways to Shine Brighter

The first 25 supporters who qualify by Shining Brighter will receive our thanks in the shape of our beautiful ‘Shine a Light on Youth’ tea tin. These limited edition versions of our annual tea boxes are a year-round reminder of your generosity to us – and they make a great gift!

Join us for Do the Loop 2023

The 3rd Annual Do the Loop is back. The campaign runs from August 1 to September 23, 2023, with participants getting out to ride, run, walk, roll, and move – for youth.

This year, funds raised by Do the Loop participants will support the Family and Natural Support program, Threshold’s innovative prevention program for youth at risk of homelessness.

We are grateful once again for the generous support of the JAYMAC II fund through the Victoria Foundation for their matching gift of $20,000. That’s right – the first $20,000 raised will be matched dollar for dollar.

Learn all the details on our Do the Loop page, or skip right over to Race Roster to register or donate.

Safe at Home with Pride – parade sign up

Safe at Home with Pride, running from June 1 – July 15, is one of the most significant campaigns in the Threshold year. With youth on the sexual orientation and gender identity spectrums massively over-represented in youth homelessness, Pride season is a prime opportunity for Threshold to show the community and our youth that we create safe spaces, that they belong, and that we celebrate them.

Shine Brighter on Giving Tuesday

On November 29, Threshold Housing Society will participate in the 10th annnual Giving Tuesday Canada. Giving Tuesday is the charitable sector’s response to Black Thursday. It is a day to show our gratitude for all the support we receive, and to deepen our relationships with community as we head into the full blast of the holiday season.

WINTER CARNIVAL

Join Threshold Housing Society for a Shine a Light on Youth Winter Carnival in Bastion Square on December 1st, 2018 from 1:30pm-4:30pm. There will be live music, hot chocolate, Santa Claus, a Tree Lighting and Christmas themed activities for your family to enjoy! All in support of helping vulnerable youth in our community.

THANK YOU SAASQUATCH!

We want to thank the fantastic team at SaaSquatch for holding an incredible event called ‘Cutthroat Gaming’ on Friday March 23 in support of Threshold Housing! We are so grateful for the excitement and enthusiasm everyone shared at the event for supporting our community. If you want to read more about the Cutthroat Gaming event click here. Thank you so much SaaSquatch for choosing Threshold Housing as your charity of choice! #WeLoveOurCommunity #YouthMatter

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE!

Threshold Housing is having a holiday open house!

We want to give our community a chance to get to know us better. If you are unfamiliar with the work we do this is a great opportunity to learn more, by meeting our staff and visiting our space. For those who know us we welcome you to come view our new office!

This is also the perfect moment to connect, mingle, and get to know other service providers in our community that work directly with youth.

SPECIAL EVENT!

Join Threshold Housing for a Tree Lighting Ceremony in Bastion Square to Shine A Light On Youth! Our goal is to light the largest tree in Bastion Square with 10,000 lights. There will be live music, the radio station Ocean 98.5, and free hot chocolate! This will take place on November 25th from 1-4pm! We encourage everyone to come down with their friends and family to gather and let youth in this region know that there is a community supporting them!

We will have Victoria’s Mayor Lisa Helps ‘flip the switch’ to turn on the lights at 4pm!

If you want to get more involved – We are asking members of our community to make a donation and buy a light to support programming that helps prevent youth from becoming homeless. For every $10 donation a bulb will be lit on the tree. We hope to sell 10-thousand bulbs before November 25th. These funds will assist us in providing transitional programming and affordable, safe and secure housing for youth who are at risk of becoming homeless. Help Shine A Light on Youth Today!
