There is so much great information and research out there about homelessness and poverty in general. And even about youth homelessness and transitional housing. But how is an organization, let alone the public in general, able to find and stay up-to-date on the newest information?
UVic’s Centre for Youth and Society has a program that is helping organizations like Threshold Housing do just that.
Youth & Family Community Research Exchange
This program give UVic students the opportunity to delve into the available research around a specific topic relevant to youth issues. THS was lucky enough to work with Emerald Pringle who created an outstanding and eye-opening report, “More than Independence: The Role of Transitional Housing in Establishing Lifelong Well-Being for Youth.” (Contact Tricia Roche at cys@uvic.ca to review the entire report.)
In addition Emerald created an outstanding brief sheet the addresses the key facts, most important research, and what this all means to THS and our community. View the PDF of this fact sheet!
Youth & Family Research Exchange Research Briefs now available HERE.
Meet the Staff and Students
You can find more about Emerald’s findings around transitional housing for youth at a power packed Pecha Kucha presentation. Additional topics covered will include e-counselling, immigrant youth, grief and loss support groups and much more.
