Unfortunately, Threshold does not offer emergency housing, but we can point you in the direction of local resources that can help you in an emergency.
-
After we’ve met and established that Threshold is the place for you, you will be added to the waitlist. The time to complete this process varies with each applicant. Please note, only those with imminent housing risk will be added to the waitlist.
-
Wait times can vary. Youth in our housing program can stay if they need until their 25th birthday, so it can be difficult to predict when we will have a spot available. Openings in the program are filled based on your needs and what is available, ie: we will prioritize those with pets for a pet friendly location, those with mobility needs in an accessible location, etc.
It is important to stay connected with the Intake team! We ask folks on our waitlist to update their file with us every three months if they are still in need of our program – email, phone and text are all great! This is the best thing you can do to keep things moving.
Youth on the waitlist can access support from our Intake team, attend life skills programming, meet with the Indigenous Wellness team, and more. If you’re on our waitlist and you’d like to access these services, please reach out to intake@thresholdhousing.ca.

Most of our placements are based on single occupancy, but we have had young parents in the program.
-
We do have a few locations that are pet friendly!
-
THS takes an equitable approach to our monthly program fees, meaning that cost will vary depending on your income source starting at $500/month. A damage deposit is also required upon move-in.
-
To get on the SHY+TH waitlist, a source of income is required. Our Intake team is great at helping you with applications for any funding you might be eligible for such as Income Assistance. We can also direct you to programs that help you develop employment skills.

We hope you can bring what you need to make our house your home!
However, no weapons of any kind are allowed to be kept in the rooms (knives, airsoft guns, etc) and there are some limitations on furniture and kitchen appliances.
Please note, storage space is very limited.
-
Most of our placements have parking available nearby.
-
In TH+SHY, there are no daily curfews, and you can come and go as you please. We do ask you to inform staff if you are leaving for multiple nights or going on a trip.
For youth under 19, we are required to have contact with you at least every 48 hours.
-
When bringing a new guest to visit Threshold House, we ask that you inform staff and introduce them when they first come to the house.
Due to the independent nature of SHY apartments, youth living in those specific suites are allowed to have overnights 3x per week and youth manage their own guest hours.
You are responsible for your guests' behaviours while at the house.
-
THS staff are supportive and non-judgmental. Various harm reduction tools are available to you in our programs, and you’ll find designated smoking locations outside each house. It is important that we keep all of those in the program safe and everyone must refrain from any actions that impact the safety and comfort of those around us.
THS also has a Supportive Recovery Program for youth aged 15-21 where you can stay for 1-4 months to work on skills for substance use recovery.
-
THS has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and discrimination of any kind. We actively celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in our homes and in the community.
Baby, you were born this way.
