Over 50% of the unhoused community in Victoria first experienced homelessness as youth.
Threshold Housing Society exists to break this cycle.
For many in Greater Victoria, childhood was shaped more by survival than security. On any given night, more than 300 youth are without a safe, stable place to call home, and 15% are experiencing chronic homelessness.
These are youth who have been removed from unsafe homes, aged out of foster care, are running from violence or sexual exploitation, or are cycling in and out of shelters. Every night spent in uncertainty compounds the effects of trauma, disrupting healthy development and forcing young people to focus on survival when they should be building their futures.
At Threshold Housing Society, we create safe homes to rest, and provide supportive programs to heal.
