Elishia Boyd
Director
Elishia is a queer mom and Former Youth in Care Alumni with lived experiences that are often faced by clients of Threshold Housing Society. She is passionate about preventing youth homelessness. In partnership with Mitacs and Threshold, she identified a research gap on the enduring impacts of youth homelessness interventions and completed an evaluative research project with former clients of Threshold. This research is now being used to improve and expand programming for youth experiencing, and at risk of, homelessness. Elishia is also passionate about improving access to education. In 2023, she established an advocacy group with another Former Youth in Care Alumni at Royal Roads University. Together, they are working to remove systemic barriers and increase support in post-secondary education for Former Youth in Care Alumni. Elishia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at Royal Roads University in 2024 and hopes to see more alumni of the foster care system achieve their own post-secondary goals. Elishia is currently employed in human resources and is working towards her CPHR. In her free time, she enjoys surfing, gardening, and spending time with her forged family.
